Yes. I've explained this in 2 videos now. Volatility drops off every year around Christmas and New Year's Day. This drop in market trading and volatility negatively impacts TVIX. I lament the fact that I just found this out this year, after taking big losses.? It is my first year actively trading in TVIX around the holiday's and so I failed to appreciate the huge impact this seasonality would have on the performance of TVIX.

Thanks again. Hope you got out of your TVIX play on friday... I got out v early on with a? tight stop loss. Risk/reward was there, so i'm not bothered. Made my money back trading PANL. Ive kept PANL and GOOG? over the new year, and hoping for a gap up on the 3rd... I agree with you, TVIX has been a great scalp trade for me when bad news is coming out of Europe. But I've also made a few bad trades with TVIX, seems to have been lethargic in reacting to news this month. Any ideas why?

I've made over 150% trading in and out of TVIX for the last few months. It's not that hard to trade and it's not illogical just because it's leveraged. It's all about swing trading the market. When volatility returns to the markets, we're going to continue? to trade in and out of it for huge profits. TVIX works great for a quick scalp play on really bad news that drives the markets down for 3 to 4 days at a time: 911, war, Tsunami, Europe defaulting on debt, etc.

Etf's like tvix suck...they are made to kill you....You came to the right conclusion about the holiday effect on tvix...but even without that it is very hard to trade. You seem to be a very logical trader but 2x 3x etf's are very illogical and almost never do what you think they should at very critical points...in fact they fake the opposite direction then kill? you.
